RAW Chief's Rare Call to ISI Chief, Secret Letter-BTS of the release of Abhinandan in 2019


RAW Chief on the instructions of PM Modi read the Riot Act to his ISI counterpart and warned Pakistan of severe consequences if Abhinandan was mistreated any further.


The then Raw Chief Anil Dhasmana by the order of PM Narendra Modi made a very rare phone call to the ISI chief Lt. Gen Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah over a secure line, mandating that the IAF pilot be released unharmed immediately. The Behind the Scene Actions in New Delhi and Islamabad lead to the release of Abhinandan.


27th February,2019, 2 years ago on same-day images of bleeding captured Indian Air Force fighter pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Vathaman was released by Pakistan. They also disclosed some propaganda videos, one of which Commander Abhinandan was covered with blood, but replying to the question of Pakistani Army officer in a strange quiet, calm and composed way.


After receiving the initial pictures, the Indian Government had not wasted a single moment, decided to take strong moves as soon as possible.PM Narendra Modi ordered the then Chief of Indian Intelligence Anil Dhasmana to make it clear to Islamabad about the strong stance of New Delhi if the pilot of IAF's MiG-21 was harmed. P.M's message for Pakistan was "Our weapon Arsenal is not for Diwali".

A report says, he was so straightforward in his approach, ISI Chief was also got surprised, how India decided to release Ballistic Missile Fight over some photographs of Abhinandan.To ascertain India means every word, the Indian Army was ordered to ready Ballistic Missile Battery Prithvi in the Rajasthan Sector.

The news alarmed Washington too.


Wing Commander Abhinandan’s MiG-21 Bison was shot down after successfully intercepting a posse of Pakistani fighters over the Line of Control in the Rajouri-Mendhar sector on 27 February, the day after the Balakot strike. Before the IAF pilot ejected from his aging MiG-21 hit in the aerial dogfight over the skies of Jammu, he shot down a fourth-generation F-16 fighter. He was captured by villagers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir where he landed and handed over to the Pakistani army.



On March 01, 2019, Abhinandan Varthaman returned home via a heavily guarded Wagah- Attari border post.


PM khan made the release declaration in National Assembly on 28th February. He called the decision to release " a gesture of peace".


Before PM Khan's announcement of the release, ISI chief Lt. General Syed wrote a secret letter to RAW chief Anil Dhasmana, where he disclosed the release decision.


The report says, soon after the incident,ISI chief was replaced by hardliner Lt. General Faiz Hamid.
