Rift Between Punjab Congress; Sonia Calls Sidhu Along With Other MLAs On Monday.

Sonia Gandhi called an urgent meeting after long-drawn disagreements among congress leaders of Punjab continue.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has summoned 25 MLAs of Punjab (including cabinet ministers). This is to discuss the breach in the party, ahead of the 2022 Assembly Elections, on Monday. Another motive behind this meeting is to start off with the preparations for the 2022 assembly polls.

Punjab's Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will meet the panel on Thursday and Friday. Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former cabinet member, is going to meet the panel on Tuesday. It is going to be headed by Rajya Sabha opposition's leader Mallikarjun Kharge. The panel would also have the AICC general secretary in-charge, Punjab, and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat.

Cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa questioned the state government's competence in fulfilling promises. Their queries included questions about justice in the sacred Guru Granth Sahib's case. The complaints were of sacrilege. They would meet the panel on the first day of the three-day-long meeting session.

According to Harish Rawat, the panel will have one-on-one discussions with 80 MLAs of the Punjab Congress. This would include the Chief Minister of Punjab, along with 3 Rajya Sabha MPs and 3 Lok Sabha MPs. S

Several members of Congress, including cabinet ministers and other MLAs, have criticized the CM regarding the sacrilege issue along with a few others. Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Singh Bajwa has been critical of the CM's decisions before. In a tweet, he has recently said "Be courageous & answer the call of your conscience. The almighty & people of Punjab are watching.”

Farmers' protest has raised controversy within the cabinet. Former Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has stated how the farmers' unity can be transformed into an economic force. The unity in the social movement has a lot of potential in it, as claimed by Sidhu, which should be used in production.
