To sustain the protest, Khalid Saifi called upon Salman Khurshid for a provocative speech
Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid, his party colleague Udit Raj and CPI(M)wafer Brinda Karat have been named in a charge sheet filed by the Delhi police in lieu of the communal violence that broke out in the Northeast Delhi in February.
Khurshid's name figures in the disclosure statements of the accused Khalid Saifi as well as former Congress councilor Ishrat Jahan. The police claim that the protected witness was one of the main conspirators who staged a violent show against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Khurshid took a dig at the police for collecting garbage with the charge sheet. He pointed the laxity performed on part of supporting an individual statement. Khurshid also questioned the authenticity of the witness and that provocation and mobilization is not a criminal offense in the country.
The statement of the protected witness made under Section 164 CrPC also names scientist Gauhar Raza, JNU student Sharjeel Imam and Jamia Milia student Meeran Haider were called to the Khureji protest site to sustain the protests.
Scientist Raza stood firm on his statement and that his anger against CAA was justified. His name came up for allegedly instigating Muslims to carry out a violent protest through his speech at Khureji.

Umar Khalid, Delhi University professor Apoorvanand, Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav, along with the Communist Party of India ( Marxist) leader Sitaram Yechury and economist Jayati Ghosh have been featured in the police charge sheet as reported earlier based on disclosure statements.
