Sir Cecil Edward Herbert Chubb, 1st Baronet bought the English prehistoric monument 'Stonehenge' for £6,600 from the Antrobus Family, which was put up for an auction on 21st September 1915 after the death of its last male heir.

Stonehenge, located at Wiltshire of England served as an important ceremonial site and burial place from the Neolithic times to the Bronze Age.

Sir Cecil Chubb gave the historical landmark of Stonehenge to the British nation on a conditional agreement on 26th October 1918.

Stonehenge has been recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1986.
