Sirisha Bandla: A feather of space on the cap of India

After Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams, the Indian-origin Sirisha Bandla created history by making her debut in the list of women who have traveled to space from India. A 33-year-old aeronautical engineer having her roots from Andhra Pradesh Guntur was among the five people who accomplished the 15 - minutes' space journey.


Ms. Bandla is a vice president of government affairs and research operation at Virgin Galactic, the spacecraft company owned by Sir Richard Branson. The crew which traveled to the edge of the space included Richard Branson, too. Thus, making him the first-ever billionaire to have traveled space. It was a life-long dream of Richard Branson and Sirisha Bandla to experience outer space.


After the comeback, Sir Richard Branson has added to make the space available and accessible for everyone by partnering with Omaze to make the experience more fulfilling for those who wanted to conquer their lifelong dream of traveling space. He also added the first-ever video from space.

"How you feel when you look down on Earth is impossible to put into words, it’s just indescribable beauty. I can’t wait for you all to get up there," Branson wrote on Twitter.
