On April 11, Sunday night, Balwan Singh (29) killed his 61-year-old father by repeatedly stabbing him. He was angry as his father denied giving him money for alcohol. The incident happened at their home in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri. The accused is arrested. Deputy commissioner of police (south), Atul Kumar Thakur said, “We arrested Balwan alias Vicky soon after receiving a call about the attack." He tried to escape from the spot run away but was too drunk to be able to runaway. The deceased is identified as Manohar Singh, also, his wife passed away six years ago. was now living with his wife, his three children and his father. The DCP informed that Balwan worked as a mason and did odd jobs. He also used to drink often and not go to work for several days. His father, Manohar had a monthly pension as he retired as a sanitation worker with the municipal corporation. Police said that Balwan often asked his father to give some amount from the pension money, mostly for drinking purposes that. Manohar refusing to give him money used to result in frequent quarrels between the two. It was the presence of Balwan’s wife in the house which reduced the possibility of their quarrels leading to violence. It was on Sunday, that both Balwan’s wife and children were out visiting their relative's house. However, Balwan, while drinking, asked his father for money as he was on Sunday night. The DCP said, “When his father refused, he repeatedly attacked him with a knife. He then threw the knife somewhere and left the spot." Manohar with multiple stab wounds on his abdomen was rushed to the AIIMS trauma center purposes that where he died during the treatment. The exact number of stab wounds will be ascertained in the post-mortem report.
