On Sunday, drugs worth Rs 22 crore were confiscated by the Special Task Force (STF), Kolkata from Belgachia milk colony. A few months ago, STF has caught a supplier with 3.8kg heroin costing Rs 20 crore. This is the third time that the heroin had cost above Rs 15 crore in the last 10 months.
The two main suspects of this case, Mahar Ali and Robiul Hussain got arrested from the Milk colony. Both are identified as the resident of Assam who is linked with drug syndicates of Bangladesh and Nepal.
"On Saturday, the STF officers claimed two drug vendors. They hold them in custody with their present transport (truck) near Milk colony under Ultadanga Police station.
The STF team equipped Amphetamine tablets and Heroin from the battery box of the present transport". said DC (STF), Aparajita Rai.
"The total market value of impounded 2kg of Heroin is Rs 10 crore. While 2,32,000 pieces of Amphetamine is around Rs 11.6 -12 crore in the international grey market. Both together emerge to be costing around Rs 22 crore" continued DC Rai.
