A suicide bomber detonated his explosives on Friday close to a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals in Pakistan's restive southwestern Balochistan province.

It killed two children and wounded three persons, including a Chinese individual, said the officials. It is the second such attack in over a month.

"A vehicle carrying Chinese workers was coming back from site when it was targeted by a suicide bomber", said a senior official. He also added saying, "One Chinese national got wounded while two children who were playing on the roadside were killed."

A government official and police informed that the attack took place in the entrepot of Gwadar which is the core of a multi-billion dollar Chinese infrastructure project where a highway is under construction as well. Gwadar is the pinnacle of the USD 60 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Liaquat Shawani, a Balochistan government spokesman said, "The suicide bomber came close to the vehicle and blew himself up."

The injured were immediately shifted to the GDA Hospital in Gwadar.

In the past few months, there have been several terror attacks aiming at Chinese nationals. China is involved in several projects aimed at the development of the Gwadar entrepot on the Arabian sea which is a part of China's Belt and infrastructure project. The Chinese nationals in Balochistan and Karachi are working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Projects and for private enterprises and are facing terror attacks constantly.

No one has taken responsibility for the attack but in the past Baloch nationalists and the Taliban militants often carried out such terrorist attacks against the security forces.

In the last month, on July 14th, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 13 people, including 9 Chinese died due to a terrorist attack. A bus carrying the Chinese engineers and workers to the site of the under-construction Dasu Dam exploded. The bus fell into a deep gorge after the explosion. The Pakistanis said that the accident was brought about due to some technical problems in the bus but later on the explosion took place due to gas leakage in the vehicle.

Later they stepped down from their earlier stance and confessed that it was a terrorist attack.

In Karachi, another terror attack took place in the last month where Chinese nationals were fired by a gunman from a moving vehicle.
