Supreme Courts warns Delhi Government to audit revenue, earnings, spending over ads

Supreme Court slams Delhi Government for 'passing the buck' to MCD, also warns AAP about the audit of spending happening on advertisements.

On Monday the Supreme Court slammed the Delhi Government for passing the ball to Delhi Municipal corporations over road sweeping machines and defining their things as a lame excuse. SC also warned the government that it can hold an audit over the revenue earnings and spending on the popular slogan boards and advertisements.

A bench included CJI NV Ramana, Justices DY Chandrachud, and Surya Kant while perusing the affidavit of the Delhi Government. The bench said that the government is busting everything over stubble burning. SC said, "This kind of lame excuse will force us to hold an audit of the revenue you are earning and spending on popularity slogans." SC asked the Government that why only 69 sweeping machines are there to the roads from dust, which is continuously a major reason for pollution. Delhi government informed the apex court that it is ready for declaring lockdown but since air has no boundaries so the center has to declare lockdown in the entire NCR region.

Currently, Delhi is in a partial lockdown as schools, construction work is closed for a week and work from home is applicable. The Supreme court also suggested a full lockdown in the last hearing. The situation of Delhi is worse in the sense of air quality index and more dangerous even from smoking.
