In Image, Babul Supriya
Former Union Minister and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Babul Supriyo, is to quit politics and leave his post of an MP. He has declared his decision over a Facebook post, where he clarified that he will not be joining any other political party; rather, his allegiance remains and has remained to the BJP. He has even mentioned in his post that he is a one-team player. However, he has later edited his Facebook post to remove the part about his not going anywhere else.
This decision of his, of leaving politics, is allegedly due to the differences he had with the leadership of BJP in West Bengal, and due to his loss of the ministerial berth. He was one of the ministers who were dropped from the union cabinet on the 7th of July. He had, however, held many portfolios as MoS since 2014, in the Modi government. He was elected twice as MP from Asansol in West Bengal.
Babul Supriyo is also known for his often discussed posts, the latest of which claimed that he was a "proper noun" while a man who commented on his post was a mere "common noun".
The President of BJP West Bengal, Dilip Ghosh, has refused to make any comments on the issue.
