Suspecting Infidelity, Man chops off wife's hand and leg in M.P.

A man from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh has allegedly chopped off his wife's hand and foot, suspecting her infidelity, said Police on Wednesday.

The accused Preetam Rajput (28) returned to his home on Tuesday night in Vishwakarma Nagar in an intoxicated state and attacked his wife Sangeeta(26), who was then sleeping with their son. With a sharp weapon, he chopped off her left hand from the wrist and also her left foot.


Neighbors came to know from the deadly screaming of the victim and her child, they immediately informed the police. The neighbors caught the accused red-handed with the weapon.


The accused was booked by the police and the victim was rushed to nearby government-run Hamidia hospital, she underwent surgery.


According to the reports this couple used to quarrel a lot. The victim worked at a private farm in Indore and visited family once a fortnight. Her husband was unhappy about her decision and wanted her to meet her family every week. He also suspected her character.


Police have arrested Rajput under the IPC section 307(attempt to murder). Further investigation has been started, said CSP Anil Tripathi.
