14 people were killed and four others were critically injured when a truck has collided with a traveler van on the Hyderabad Bengaluru National Highway (NH-44) in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. This terrible incident happened in the early hours of Sunday as per the police information. The awful accident took place near the Madhapuram village of Veldurthi block.

The Van was carrying 18 people when it hit the road divider with a high-speed and jumped over it. Within a moment, collided with a truck that is coming from the opposite direction on the other side of the road. After the terrible collision, the van was totally crushed under the wheels of the truck and awfully dragged for a few minutes before getting halted. 14 Traveller died on the spot and force children are seriously injured. The truck driver got panic and shouted for help, following the scream local people came and pulled out the injured from the van.

Because of this mishap in the Kurnool district, NH 44 has come to a complete standstill and a lot of time has taken to remove the accident vehicles in the dark early morning. Veldurthi police reported that the bodies of the deceased people were mutilated beyond recognition. 8 women, 5 men, and a child were killed because of this accident. According to their Aadhar cards and belongings, it was found that the deceased people belonged to Madanapalle town of Chittoor district. The four injured were identified as Yasmeen, Asma, Kasim, and Mushtaq. All of them are around 10 years of age group.
According to the police, the group of pilgrims was traveling to Ajmer Dargah in Rajasthan. The cause of the accident is uncertain till now. Police are investigating whether the accident happened because the van driver was drowsy or the tyres of the traveler had exploded. Veldurthi police investigating the case.
Some of the top officials of the Kurnool district reached the spot and supervised relief works. The injured travelers were admitted to Kurnool Government General Hospital for treatment and the deceased bodies were taken for Autopsy.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister y s Jagan Mohan Reddy Express deep shock over the accident. CM has called the district collector G Veerapandian and the superintendent of police Dr. Kaginelli Fakeerappa to conduct rescue operations as early as possible.
