Tesla to set up its first manufacturing unit in Karnataka ,CM Yediyurappa announced

American electric car giant Tesla is all set for its India debut in Karnataka. Tesla inc. Will open its first electric car manufacturing unit in Karnataka, CM Yediyurappa confirmed in his statement.


Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk also tweeted ' as promised' to confirm his company's debut in India.

CM also said that an industrial corridor will be set up in Tumbur district at the cost of Rs 7,725 crore.

In a statement, Karnataka CM appreciated the benefits got from the Union Budget.


Billionaire Elon Musk owned Tesla entered India by registering as a company named 'Tesla motors India and Energy Pvt. Ltd.' in Bengaluru on January 8. Indian unit has three directors Vaibhav Taneja, Venkatrangam Sreeram, and David Jon Feinstein. While Taneja is the chief accounting officer and Feinstein is the Global Senior Director of Tesla, California.


Announcing the grand welcome of Tesla's first manufacturing unit in India, Karnataka CM posted a statement on social media "Karnataka will lead India's journey towards Green Mobility. Electric Vehicle Manufacturer Tesla will soon start its operations in India with an R&D unit in Bengaluru. I welcome Elon musk to India &

Karnataka and wish him all the very best."


However EV availability is less than 1% in India, It might be a difficult task for Musk to crack a difficult market in India but it can become a game-changer and create a big opportunity for Tesla.


Currently, India is Asia's third-biggest economy and fastest-growing economy.

According to a study by Asia's leading think tank CEEW Center for Energy Finance, the Indian electric market would be worth almost $206 billion in the coming decade.
