A healthy lifestyle is important for physical as well as mental health


People talk a lot about having a healthy lifestyle, exercising, and maintaining a proper diet. But what exactly it even means to have a healthy lifestyle? Is it just to keep up with the trend, to show off your fitness routine in social media? Is it just about losing or gaining weight? Well, it is a lot more than that. It involves self-care, self-love, and most importantly a positive perspective towards an individual’s life.

Why is a Healthy Lifestyle Important?

Why stick to a routine? The word healthy itself gives us an answer- Good Health. It is important to have a lifestyle that improves both, our physical and mental health. Having a healthy lifestyle reduces the risk of diseases, the risk of dying early, mental illness, fatigue and so much more.

Following a healthy lifestyle gives the person a sense of satisfaction. It makes one feel good about itself. A healthy body and mind also help one to reach its goals in a better and confident way. Lesser the health problems, the more the willpower, and energy to achieve something. It also builds our immunity system.


What one can do to achieve a Healthy Lifestyle?

Let’s be honest. Nothing in life is easily achievable. In order to stay fit, one needs to change its old habits. It will not be so simple but it will be worth the hard work. It will take time to accomplish a complete blissful and peaceful state of mind, but where there’s a will there’s away.


Firstly, having good sleep is very important. Sleeping for six to eight hours will boost your day with a fresh mindset. Although, this does not mean to sleep around 3 am and wake up by 9 am. As rightly quoted by The Founding Fathers of the United States, Benjamin Franklin, “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise” stating that one’s sleeping routine should involve going to bed early and waking up early. This regular sleeping routine will prevent tired and burning eyes as well as dark circles and eye bags.

Drink Water. Drink, drink, and drink. The National Academics of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an average healthy adult in a moderate climate needs to drink 3.7 liters of fluids for men whereas a woman needs 2.7 liters of fluid.

Daily morning yoga or exercise should not only be done to lose weight but to keep an individual fit for continuing the daily activities of life. It keeps the body active and minds positive. It will not be easy to do this if you have never done any physical exercise in your life, but taking small steps can help. It is not necessary to work out for half-an-hour or rather one hours. Praying, meditating, and exercising for 15-20 minutes in the initial stages will help.





Other than these, one can also follow a skincare and hair care routine. It is not only to enhance the physical appearance but is also a form of self-care which a person tends to forget in the hustle and bustle of life. This type of routine is not time-consuming. One can follow this for 10-15 minutes of waking up and 10-15 minutes before going to bed. One of the instances is to moisturize your skin and apply oil to your hair. This gives you a sense of satisfaction that you are doing something for yourself and boosts your self-esteem

Eating healthy food is a must. One should not mistake “maintaining a diet” with having less amount of food. It means to have nutritious food, without skipping meals. Skipping meals will only make you crave for more food. Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet and cut down the intake of junk food and sweets. It only leads to health problems including heart disease, diabetes, digestive issues, depression, and much more.

Last but not the least, do what you love. Follow your passion and have a positive attitude. Take breaks in between your work and take out time for your family and friends. Surround yourself with optimistic people. If you love writing, painting, drawing, or anything that makes you happy-Do It. It is okay to check on yourself, smile a little more, and worry a little less.


Nobody is asking you to maintain a lavish lifestyle, just adapt yourself to a lifestyle in which you are comfortable. Try out some ways to figure out your health care routine. Relax your mind too and enjoy your peaceful life. “Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind, and spirit."
