Schools to be opened in a phased manner
It's been more than six months since the closure of schools and colleges which are inclined to reopen after October 15 in a graded manner. The government in its latest "Unlock 5" announcement said that "The decision shall be taken in consultation with the respective school/institution management, based on their assessment of the situation," the Home Ministry asserted.
The government said that online and distance learning should be a preferred mode of teaching. Some students prefer to attend online classes rather than physically attending schools, they may be authorized to do so. Students may attend schools and colleges only with the written consent of the parents.
Attendance cannot be enforced and must entirely depend on parental consent, and the States and Union territories will make their own standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding health and safety precautions before reopening schools and colleges.
Higher education institutions only for research scholars (Ph.D.) and post-graduate in science and technology stream requiring laboratory and experimental works will be allowed to open from October 15 with SOPs.
