West Bengal, Sitalkuchi: CISF shot 4 dead during the 4th phase of the election

Widespread violence during the fourth phase of the election:
On April 10th, the occurrence of violence during Phase 4 of West Bengal elections in Cooch Behar district, with the Sitalkuchi constituency turning battleground. Four people lost their lives in the firing of CISF personnel in Sitalkuchi. The reports revealed they fired bullets from back at medium range. According to the reports of post-mortem, all four victims had sustained bullet injuries on their upper body. TMC leaders’ statements:
During a press conference in Siliguri, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had called the incident a ‘genocide’ and claimed that the CISF personnel had shot the deceased in ‘the chest or neck', and does not know how to control mobs Whereas, TMC’s leader Derek O Brien, called the CISF firing incident, a cold-blooded murder. He tweeted regarding post-mortem reports saying, “people killed by central forces reveals, one was shot, while he was running away, second had a head injury, with the butt of a rifle and third was shot in the chest, from close quarters." Another bitter political blame game broke out between TMC and BJP, with both sides attacking each other, however, Election Commission intervened and reported it is the final decision of re-polling in both booths 125 and 286. Undergoing investigation:
A Special Investigation Team(SIT) of the Criminal Investigation Department has been appointed to look into the matter, which happened during the 4th phase of the election and conducts a probe.
