A horrific incident took place at Delhi's Budh Vihar where a 40-year-old woman was stabbed to death. The woman succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Saturday.

The murder took place in a market area. Many people saw the murder and the incident was also recorded on a CCTV camera.

The woman was an employee in a government hospital. She was stabbed 40 times by her estranged husband. The incident took place at a market in Delhi's Budh Vihar, the Delhi Police said.

Two Policemen apprehended the murderer at the crime scene with help from the public. The Police recovered the knife used for the murder from the crime scene. As per the Police, the man had a problem with the woman working at the hospital. He also suspected her of having an affair. The man was furious and hence, murdered her.

Many people saw the murder in the market area. The CCTV camera provided concrete evidence of the murder, the Police said. Apart from the CCTV footage, one bystander recorded a video on his phone. The video was circulated on social media.

In the 1:41 long video footage, the man was wearing a pink shirt. He tied a cloth around his forehead. In the video, he was talking to the woman on the street. She was holding a bag on her left shoulder and her back was facing the camera. Their faces were not visible in the video. After talking for a while, the woman tried to leave. At this point, the man started to attack her with a knife. The authenticity of the video was not completely verified.

The woman was bleeding and she fell on the street. Four-five people came out of their adjacent shops. A biker stopped to help and two other men were also standing behind the attacker. The attacker continued to attack her and he also threatened the onlookers.

Two policemen from the Vijay Vihar police station went to the crime site at around 2 pm. The local men and the police shifted the woman to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead.

DCP (Rohini) Pranav Tayal said the suspect's name was Harish Mehta. A 40-year-old man was from Gujarat but was working with a marriage bureau in Delhi. He recently married Neelu after meeting her on a matrimonial site. The woman worked at the Safdarjung Hospital and this was her second marriage, said Tayal.
